Brooke’s Note: I am literally packing my bags for the trip to San Diego for the TD Ameritrade conference there that runs Feb. 2 to Feb 5. Apparently, Tony Blair, the keynote speaker is not — and it seems somewhat poetic that Colin Powell is coming to the rescue. The other concern for the conference is getting attendees there through the ice storms back East. For instance, I received an email from Marie Swift who was stuck in Kansas. TD Ameritrade announced that ue to recent events in the Middle East, its scheduled featured keynote speaker, Tony Blair, has been asked to report immediately to the area — preempting his speaking engagement in San Diego on Thursday.
Colin L. Powell, former U.S. Secretary of State, will be delivering the keynote address at its 2011 National Conference in San Diego in his place at that time on Feb. 3. Powell will offer his perspectives on current global economic and political affairs and bring to life his extensive White House experience, TD says in a release.

Piers Morgan interviewed Blair for “Piers Morgan Tonight” and spoke about Hosni Mubarak staying on as head of Egypt until September election.
When Piers asked Blair whether Mubarak should stay in power, Blair said, according to CNN: “whatever happens, frankly, there’s going to be change. And that change will happen reasonably quickly.”
